This story starts out like the classic Three Billy Goats Gruff, with a grouchy troll living under a bridge and three goat brothers who have to walk over his bridge to get to the green grass on the other side. The troll threatens to eat the goats if they keep tramping over his bridge and making so much noise. They tell their Mom, who ponders this threat while she knits at night. She forms a brilliant plan! She knits booties for her kids so they don't make noise when they tramp over the bridge. She also makes the troll earmuffs and a cozy blanket so he can sleep in peace and quiet under the bridge. The problem is solved!
